This Jewish theater presents plays in Yiddish and Polish. It is named after the Jewish actress E. R. Kamińska and her daughter Ida, an actress and director who ran the theater until 1968. Following a wave of repression against Polish citizens of Jewish origin, Ida Kamińska left Poland with part of her troupe. The theater survived, and today is one of the few (if not the only) theater in Poland to stage plays in Yiddish.
