The beaches have nothing to dream about. However, that of Trujillo, which surrounds very many champas (typical restaurants under their roof of palm) is suitable for bathing and not too dirty. Don't leave your belongings unattended, there is a great chance that they will disappear like magic, and you will be forced to return to the hotel in a bathing suit… wet.

The beaches of the airport (as we call them), near the hotel La Quinta, are quieter and more beautiful. Do not walk on the beaches towards Puerto Castilla, they are dangerous even the day.
