BICENTENNIAL PARK
Considered the green lung of San Salvador, El Espino-Bosque Los Péricos, known as Parque del Bicentenario (Parc du Bicentenaire), is a protected area in the heart of the capital. Inaugurated in 2011, two hundred years after the first cry of independence, it is also a large green area conducive to relaxation and recreation with family or friends, either alone or as a couple, in the middle of nature. Part of the park is open to the public who can borrow the 4 kilometres of hiking trails, the 3,6 kilometres of carousel trails and use the five playgrounds and picnic areas.
Previously, this natural area was used to produce coffee. Today, the part not accessible to the public preserves a tropical tropical forest where endemic bird species are found.
