San Salvador International Airport has been operational since 1980. Known as El Salvador or Comalpa airport, it has the name of Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport since 20 March 2014, the date on which members voted to rename it in honour of the most famous El Salvador martyr.
The airport is located outside San Salvador. Located 50 km away from the town of San Juan Talpa, take a 30-minute journey to the capital via the four-lane highway. A taxi costs about US $ 35. Car rental cars are at the exit. A few bus lines link directly to the city centre of the capital (more information on www.horariodebuses.com).
