The former French garrison is made up of several buildings. In January 1909, Chinguetti fell into the hands of French legionnaires who, 10 years later, built the "Poste Claudel" in honor of one of their commanders. The most important of the fort's buildings is made up of imposing pillars supporting beautiful arcades. Although the post is now the town hall, it still bears witness to the colonial period.
