Among all the islands of the PNBA, special mention should be given to that of Tidra. First of all, this island 35 kilometres long, 8 kilometres wide, has remnants of pottery and tools proving that it was occupied in the Neolithic. Then in the th century, it was from the island of Tidra that was leaving the Mouvement movement, which then conquered Morocco, Algeria and much of Spain. Finally, in the th century, the Portuguese traders arrived first, before choosing the island of Arguin less difficult to access. Not to mention the raft of La Medusa that came to pass in the PNBA without knowing exactly where the tragedy took place. On the botanical side, the island of Tidra stands out for two reasons, a priori difficult to reconcile. Indeed, it has the particularity of hosting, in the north-west, not only the northernmost mangrove, but also the southernmost prairie prairie in West Africa. Confirmation, if necessary, that the PNBA is a strategic crossroads indispensable to the planet's biological balance.Returning to Iouîk, to go to Bîr el-Gâreb, then to Nouâdhibou, you must take over the direction of Cape Tafarit. After about 45 kilometres, leave the direction on the left to continue north between the moving dunes called barkanes. You cross the Chibka Oued, or at least the rest of it, because it doesn't get much water. The vegetation is thin, the wind is omnipresent and, to say it, the Chibka Oued is dotted. This region, which is already very popular with men, is practically abandoned by animals, so the climatic conditions are difficult. After the Chibka Oued, the track continues in a still poor environment to the Bîr el-Gâreb, the only well in the region. The northern limit of the PNBA is a few kilometres away by continuing the trail towards Nouâdhibou. Before leaving the PNBA, it can be interesting to take a detour of about kilometres to see the bay of Arguin and the island of the same name. It is enough, once in Bîr el-Gâreb, to obliquer to the west, but beware of not getting bogged down in the many sebkhas that protect it. The safest place to reach the bay is Tachekché. From here, the Imraguen of the nearby Agadir village can drive you to Lanche island. This island was charged with history, the Portuguese came to the Curried in 1443 and made their main counter for the gum trade. She went successively to the Dutch, then to the French. The remains of the fortifications are still visible, as are the buildings of the counter La Société des deux worlds, as well as the graves of the island's inhabitants. One of the main attractions of the island of Arguin, in addition to its relatively easy access to the other islands of PNBA, is the presence on its soil of a natural freshwater tank. Once you have returned to the continent, the complete tour of the bay of Arguin is possible, but it is important to know that this journey is very difficult, as the surrounding sebkhas are permanent traps for vehicles. In addition, they are subjected to severe testing and fuel consumption is consistent.
