The Kaédi region is home to many Toucouleurs. The population is growing, termite mounds are appearing, and so are police and gendarmerie controls. The many villages we pass through can be seen, from afar, by the specificity of the minarets of their mosques. To note towards the east the Gorgol, which gave its name to the region, this tributary of the Senegal River which comes to swell it at Kaédi. You can easily cross over to Senegal by crossing the river to Thilogne, on the other bank of the river, just opposite Kaédi. During the rainy season, the region is not free of some pests... Avoiding the wintering season means avoiding mosquitoes!
