Travel Guide Samuay

Muang Samouay, as it is locally called, is a small commune located 160 km northeast of Saravane, at an altitude of more than 800 meters. It is necessary to pass by Tahoy to reach this village bordering Vietnam which contains interesting vestiges of the Indochina wars. The population is composed of different ethnic groups: Lao Loum, Pako, Kanai, Kado, Tahoy and Samuay. These last two communities are famous for the beauty and quality of their handmade fabrics. Possibility to visit the workshops and to buy locally produced handicrafts (traditional clothes, scarves, household linen...)
