This city, located 70 km from Tarim, houses the tomb of the Prophet Houd. It is a place of pilgrimage. According to the texts, Houd was sent by God, before Islam, to rescue the people Ad. The Ad, very poor, died of hunger and God took them in mercy. Through the prophet Houd, God gave them a camel that would provide his work force and adequate milk, a camel that it was forbidden to kill ever. The Ad désobéirent and God demolished them in a snowstorm. The prophet is buried next to the camel turned into stone. The town, which extends to the foot of the tomb, is inhabited only during the pilgrimage. The trail leading to Aynat, then to the tomb of Houd, continues east in the department of Mahra, little frequented by tourists. This track is to be road and continued to the Sultanate of Oman.
