Baraqish (Yathill) is located in Wajzir Wadi, perpendicular to the Wadi Abin Wadi wadi. To the southwest is the mountain of Yam from where the water comes in rainy times. Agriculture was ensured by the diversion of water through channels and locks, and then by construction of a dam more than one kilometre southwest of the city. The highly sophisticated irrigation system, studied by Bruno Marcolongo, allowed for the cultivation of fields of 1 350 hectares, on limoneuse land: we still see deposits of 12 metres high.
