The village is remarkably high on the Jebel Kohlan. A little road leads to the high town, to its tanks (banned from photos when women draw from water), then, after a little mosque, to a beautiful view of the shortcut that goes to the lower town. At the top of the mountain is the Citadelle citadel of Kohlan which is not that. The imam Ahmed was digging a long underground train that led far from the village. A second path, also from the road of Hajja, overlooks the main street of the lower city, lined by stalls under awnings (market on Mondays). At the bottom, the mosque and a beautiful overview of the houses on the mountain side. From Hajja, through the mule routes, you can go to Kohlan, then in Jebel Massouar Beit Adhaqah: Two days walking, then three days to reach Shibam. After Hajja, the newly-asphalted road runs 56 kilometres to reach the road from La to Dayr Doukhna. Over kilometres, we cross a décor of eroded rocks, with the forms of gigantic pebbles, with an arid vegetation of euphorbia, tamarisks, acacias and these curious tree trees (Adenium obesum forsskal) to small pink flowers. The impression of a theatre decor is reinforced by a rusty car on the few metres of rails remaining next to the road, remembering the grandiose project of a line of railway between Iz and Sana'a. This order from the Turks to French engineers at the beginning of the th century was quickly abandoned in view of the mountains surrounding Sana'a. This road, and the one that passes through Manakha, makes it possible to win the Tihama and Iz.
