A very recent festival in Ilha de Moçambique. Dance, music and theatre raise public awareness about whale protection.

The management of Ilha Blue Island Safari starts from the premise that knowing about whales invites respect for them. During the two-day Welcome the Whales festival, theater, dance, music, and films take part in the debate on the importance of marine conservation on a local and international scale. For the first edition in 2019, Ilha do Moçambique, which sees humpback whales migrate to its warm waters each year to give birth to their young, celebrated the arrival of the whales. We hope for more editions soon.
