This is the most authentic campsite in Mozambique

If you are looking for a local experience in the middle of nowhere Rito is your man. Pomene is a beautiful natural reserve with monkeys, baboons and birds on a stunning beach. You get the best and freshest fish all day directly from the fisherman. The campsite is located directly on the beach, is super simply equipped with a toilet, a shower and a fire place for bbq. Rito takes great care of you and shows you around.

I enjoyed a lot I saw white sand and good vegetation I saw deferent people culture and diversity

The 3 of us have been here in September/ October for 3 weeks. And as the others already mentioned : absolut awesome: view/hosts/food. ....
We even saw the Wales the entire stay: so absolute breathtaking!

(Just be careful when the wind blows from a certain direction, the little' portuguese galera jellyfish' is there . It hurts when it stings you! But that's everywhere in Mosambik, not only there in Pomene )

No water no electricity no care from management

Amazing!!!

Thank you to the POMENE restaurant for accommodating us for our African Queen Foundation charity handout which we do every year.

It is extremely far to drive to POMENE from South Africa and this area is a nature reserve requiring a 4x4 to reach as the roads are mostly sea sand.

There are few little chalets which you can rent at the resort but it is strictly self catering and a small step up from camping.

The restaurant is very basic with only serving the local beer as COVID has caused the restaurant to almost close without tourists.

We were fortunate for the restaurant to offer their venue to us for our outreach where the Africa Pageants finalists distributed Dignity Dreams washable sanitary wear to all the ladies and toiletries, toys and clothing to the community.

We were also blessed by being able to assist the POMENE school with all their stationery, pens, pensions, erasers, pencil sharpeners, coloring pencils and crayons and books and bibles which we hope will keep them going for the next school year.

Prior to our assistance which started in 2019 they were literally drawing on the sand to learn how to write.

We are blessed to be able to assist this very humble community as the nearest town is more than a 4 hour drive away.

Thank you to the MSC for coming on board to help us reach the area and to Fancy Tours for the transport of all the people involved with Africa Pageants from Johannesburg to Durban and back.
