It's just south of Maputo. Portuguese Island faces Inhaca Island, which seems to stand out from the Santa Maria Peninsula. You have to admit it's tempting: you come here to find seaside beauties that escape Maputo in a short motorboat trip. The beaches are beautiful, the water crystal-clear, the coral populated by schools of colourful fish. If you're lucky, you'll spot pink flamingos and pelicans. The eponymous village has retained its authenticity and its fishermen, as it is accessible almost exclusively by boat. Via sandy tracks, you have to pass through Maputo National Park (4 x 4 obligatory).
