Highly recommend the Pestana Tropico in Praia -- we had a great stay with the hotel as our homebase for exploring Santiago. Staff is attentive and helpful, breakfast spread is consistently huge, beach proximity is unmatched, and the gym is modest but gets the job done. Thanks for a great stay!

Frühstück gut, allerdings müssen beide Kaffee/Getränkeautomaten dringend gewartet werden, da sie alle paar Minuten ausfallen und das Personal ständig damit beschäftigt ist, diese wieder zum laufen zu bringen.

Service gut und freundlich

Negativ:
Transfer vom Flughafen, auf Webseite kostenfrei, in der Abrechnung werden jedoch 1000 KEsc berechnen. (Man muss wohl Mitglied der Hotelgruppe sein, um kostenfreien Transfer zu bekommen, ist im Internet so nicht ersichtlich). Ansonsten hat der Transfer sehr gut funktioniert.

Lovely hotel with everything you need for a great stay in Praia. Wonderful location next to a small, but charming beach. Kind and helpful staff. Amazing breakfast spread and most delicious caipirinhas I've had outside of Brazil.

Hotel agréable, chambre spacieuse, petit restauration au bar à un bon rapport qualité prix, piscine (d'eau de mer) appréciable, peut être un peu cher pour le cap vert..mais dans l'ensemble, très satisfaisant !

Sehr schönes Hotel an der Küste von Praia. Die Anlage ist gepflegt und sauber und das gesamte Personal ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstücksbüffet ist abwechslungsreich und das Hotel kocht sowohl mittags als auch Abend nach einer festen Karte. Alles was wir dort probieren durften, hat uns gut geschmeckt.

Notre séjour de 10 jours s’est très bien déroulé. Le personnel est très accueillant, à l’écoute, et d’une très grande gentillesse. L’hôtel est idéalement situé ( 15mn à pied du centre de praia, 5 mn en voiture)
Les plus:
- un buffet du petit déjeuner très bien garni
- un ATM à l’accueil
- un service de location de voiture
- vous trouverez toujours des taxis devant l’hôtel quelque soit l’heure.

Nous recommandons fortement cet hôtel pour votre séjour sur l’île de Santiago!

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It is very close to the city centre. The staff is great and helped us a lot, both with sorting out a car rental situation an helping us to find another place where we could rent a car and by letting us have a late shower before catching our flight, even though late check-outs were no longer possible due to full booking. The salt water pool is both good and the area around the pool is nice to look at.

The only downsides were the fact that water ran out of the shower and that the breakfast buffet didn't have any variation over the different days we spent there.

Este hotel tem o pior serviço de todos os hotéis em que já estive hospedada. Cobram dinheiro de produtos que não foram consumidos, trazem à mesa bebidas trocadas, sobremesas incompletas, etc.
A maioria dos funcionários que trabalha no restaurante do hotel não é muito simpático. A funcionária mais simpática e prestável do hotel é a menina Becky.

Chambre confortable et spacieuse. Elle sont propres et agréables. Piscine d'eau de mer super rafraîchissante. Je dirais petit bémol pour la fréquentation de la piscine le dimanche, si vous aimez le calme et le repos venez vous y baigner les autres jours de la semaine.

Mas este Pestana Tropico Cabo Verde foi tudooooo, desde a simpatia, a comida , comodidade, disponibilidade para dar informaçao .
Humildade do staff, quartos limpos e espaçosos, modernidade e segurança.
E fecho o comentario dizendo qie o Trópico C. V tem uma puscina de água salgada maravilhosa ????

Ein sehr schönes Hotel in Praia. Es hat ein gutes Restaurant, einen ganz schönen pool, und eine Poolbar. Das Bett ist sehr bequem und die Zimmer sind sehr sauber. Top Adresse in Praia.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Besonderen Dank an das Team an der reception, das uns sehr geholfen hat um eine überteuerte Taxifahrt zu verhindern.
Und auch grossen dank an Becky und ihr Team. Sie haben uns geholfen, den Transport auf der Insel zu organisieren.

I have plenty of things to say about our stay in this hotel.

Positive

- Location: You are close to the airport, the beach, the old town (20 min by car), and the city center (about 15 min by foot but it's uphill at some point).

- The hotel itself is beautiful. We really liked the pool area with the restaurant.

- Rooms are big.

- Buffet breakfast was good. Lots of options.

- The cleaning service was excellent. They left everything spotless in the room.

- It was nice to have a restaurant in the hotel. We ate there every day. They have a lot of options, vegetarian and vegan included. They are also flexible to adapt a dish if you request it.

- That last point takes me to a negative/positive point about the restaurant and the hotel. One night, my boyfriend ate fish at the restaurant and threw up all night (it's not because the fish was bad or anything, but if it's too hot, avoid dishes with fish in it to be safe). We talked to the receptionist and manager in the morning, and they were excellent at taking care of him. A driver took us to a clinic nearby and explained everything to the receptionist there. The hotel immediately reimbursed us for the consultation and shot my boyfriend got at the clinic. They checked on him all day and sent him tea and food free of charge. We truly appreciated their gesture. They also offered us the ride to the airport for free and the restaurant adapted some dishes for him to eat them.

Negatives

- Some things are a little bit outdated (they are under renovation, so I think it is not that negative).

- The room was big but not very functional or comfortable. For example, we had two twin beds put together, they were not very comfortable. There wasn't a coffee machine or kettle. There was a desk, but the big space could be used differently, in my opinion.

- The pool was not very clean. We had the feeling it was never cleaned during the time we were there.

- Staff were not very welcoming. Some people at the reception, yes, but most of them would barely answer questions or requests. Same with the restaurant. Sometimes, they were a little bit rude. Never a smile. The receptionist that was there the morning my boyfriend was sick and the manager were incredibly nice, though.

Overall, it was a good experience. I wouldn't recommend staying for too long in Praia, though. Unless your plan is to visit museums or historical places, there isn't much to do. But this hotel is a very good option!

O tropico é um hotel muito acolhedor e com uma equipa sigular. Foi um prazer enorme estar hospedada neste hotel,vou ficar com muitas saudades das comidas locais que são servidas no restaurante.

Equipa fantástica! Todos muito simpáticos e atenciosos. Muito obrigado ao funcionário Euclides, que me ajudou imenso com as malas que não chegaram! Voltarei certamente para este hotel :)
