On the same road to Calhau, at kilometer 21, turn right following the signs for Saragarça or Boca da Lapa. A few hundred meters further on, accessible by a dirt track, you'll reach Topim, a beautiful wild beach of white sand, very popular with surfers because of its strong waves. It's also the venue for the Open Sandy, a national surf and bodyboard competition. There's also a succession of caves where you can take shelter, picnic and observe the many curious fossilized shells. Caution: swimming here is considered dangerous.
