GRAZ CASTLE (GRAZER BURG)
This castle, built by Frederick III and now the seat of Styria's government, is a lively place.
Built by Frederick III, this castle is now the seat of the Styrian head of government (Landeshauptmann). It was designed in the 16th century by the architect Domenico dell'Allio, in a Renaissance vein that heralded the Baroque era. The arcaded courtyard is remarkable, as is the double spiral staircase built into the tower at the far end of the courtyard under Maximilian I. Also in the courtyard: the tourist office and a pleasant restaurant.
