MALTA ROAD (MALTA HOCHALM STRASSE)

From Gmünd you can take the Malta Alp Route. A picturesque route, for which a fee is charged, leads to an alp and a spectacular dam in 14.5 km. The Kölnbrein dam is a 200 m high arch dam built between 1970 and 1978 across the upper Malta valley. The route leads past picturesque waterfalls, which are dried up at night when the water is diverted to the reservoirs. Tunnels and hairpin bends. On site mountain restaurant and hotel Malta.
