CASTLE AMBERG (SCHLOSS AMBERG)
Château hosting exhibitions, weddings and other prestigious ceremonies.
This castle, where Emperor Maximilian I stayed, was built in 1502. From 1535, it belonged to the emperor's bastard son, Colonel Friedrich Max von Amberg, before passing into the hands of a wealthy Feldkirch family, the von Furtenbachs, during the 17th century. It is nicknamed the pearl of the Middle Rhine Valley. And with good reason! The castle has long been one of the most beautiful properties in the Lake Constance region, offering fantastic views over the entire Rhine Valley as far as Lake Constance and, on clear days, as far as Lindau. Privately owned, it is at the heart of a vast agricultural estate, used in particular for viticulture and arboriculture. As in centuries past, grapes and apples are handcrafted into aromatic and highly appreciated beverages. The site also offers a program of exhibitions. Every three months or so, Amberg Castle changes its natural and cultural setting. As the seasons change, not only does the nature around the castle evolve, but so does the theme of its exhibition. Regional and international artists present their works not only in the castle's historic rooms, but also in the surrounding natural spaces, in the style of land art. Last but not least, the chateau also hosts weddings and other prestigious ceremonies in a setting worthy of unforgettable events.
