CITY MUSEUM (STADTMUSEUM WELS-BURG)

The museum is housed in the old fortress, which was first built in the 8th century and where Maximilian I died (monument in the courtyard garden) in 1519. This beautiful building houses a dynamic cultural centre and museum. One of the most important Biedermeier collections in the world can be admired, offering a particularly revealing view of the interiors of the period. Other collections concern the history of the city and popular arts and traditions.
