A large square square named after the former Babenberg castle that once stood here.
This large square square owes its name to the former Babenberg castle that once stood here. It was from the balcony of the imposing Jesuit church Am Hof (17th century façade) that Pope Pius VI blessed the people on Easter Day. It was also here, in 1806, that Emperor Franz I renounced the title of Holy Roman Emperor. At night, admire Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson's dreamlike Yellow Fog, an installation projecting water vapor backlit by yellow spotlights along the Verbund's façade.

Dommage !
