MUSEUMSQUARTIER
This is a remarkable place with its large and friendly public courtyard and all around the contemporary art exhibition spaces.
It's the counterpart of contemporary art and modern culture to the heritage of Imperial Vienna. A comparable sumptuousness in a trendy, relaxed version. Discovering this museum district is a joyful, surprising, friendly and offbeat experience, where you'll come across young locals and Viennese families enjoying the immense inner courtyard and its large, colorful designer benches. A monumental building site and a phenomenal budget gave birth to this new cultural and popular space, inaugurated in 2001. But what a success! Close to the city center, the MuseumsQuartier is an original arts complex of international stature. The harmony between the renovated Baroque buildings, including the former stables and the imperial courtyard that structure the complex, and the futuristic new buildings is striking.
Vienna's MuseumsQuartier invites us to discover works of art, installations and performances by contemporary artists, both renowned and unknown. These are presented in several independent spaces: the Leopold Museum, MUMOK and the ZOOM Kindermuseum (ZOOM Children's Museum). There's also the Architekturzentrum Wien (Vienna Architecture Center), the Dschungel Wien (Theater House), also for children, and various experimental spaces, including the Kunsthalle Wien for the most daring young contemporary artists. You can eat and drink in a number of pleasant spaces overlooking the courtyard or rising to the panoramic rooftops.
Jolie place entre de beaux bâtiments.
Petit café proposant des petits déjeuners (porridge aux fruits et yaourt aux fruits recommandés).
