It's the name of a farm with its little church "in the middle of nothing." Although it is on the edge of road No. 1, the farm remains very isolated in winter because the road is not always open all year round. At 469 m altitude, it is also Iceland's highest farm. The church of the farm, consecrated in 1949, was built by the will of one man, Jón Stefánsson, in memory of his wife, at his own expense.
