The village of Weah is located high up on the N1 road. This small perched locality, with its black volcanic stone buildings, is well known to taxi drivers in Djibouti City. Indeed, Weah was home to the French legionnaires' base and an important police station until 2011 and for 49 years. There is nothing special to report in this somewhat desolate village today, except that a new dam has been built upstream of Wadi Ambouli, with financial support from Turkey, as part of a program to combat thirst and droughts, in order to meet the water needs of nomadic and rural populations
