POUCHKINE STREET SYNAGOGUE

This building includes the Orthodox synagogue and its neighbouring Jewish school. The buildings were designed by the famous Košice architect Louis Oelschläger and the builder Hugo Kabos. On the inner walls of the synagogue, handwritten comments can be seen, traces left by the Jews gathered before being sent to the death camps. The basement of the adjacent school was used as a bakery, it was also used as a shelter for refugees
