PUSTÝ CASTLE (PUSTÝ HRAD)

The castle can be reached from Zvolen's main railway station. Today, the ruins of this old castle are a historical landmark. Royal administrative seat between 1172 and 1196. It has one of the largest surface areas in the country: 7.6 ha. In 2009, researchers from the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences began working on the site, maintaining and restoring it. Since then, interest in the site has been revived and it is becoming increasingly popular.
