SLOVENSKÁ CASTLE ĽUPČIANSKY (ĽUPČIANSKY HRAD)

The first written mention of the castle dates from 1250, and it was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1443 and rebuilt and improved until 1572. The 17th and 18th centuries saw the decline of the castle and its role as a centre of authority and it was partly destroyed by fire. After the Second World War, it was used as a school and charity house, but also as a centre for the Socialist Youth Union. Its renovation began in 2002.
