Thermal baths of Stabies, a better preserved complex with a floor heating system
The Baths of Stabies represent the best preserved thermal complex in the city. It is also the oldest (2nd century BC), but its facilities were modernised under Augustus with, in particular, the installation of a floor heating system (hypocaust). Around a palaestra with porticoes for physical exercise are the baths, with a section for women and another for men, to the east, vast latrines, and to the west, the open-air swimming pool. Polychrome stucco decorations from the Flavian period are still visible.

Definetely worth a visita for a couple of things: the division of female and male thermas, The male ones are blogger and there is a room with nice blue fresco, however the female ones show the underground of the floor where you can see the small pilasters made by small flat bricks where the water was flowing to confotionate the room. Still in Milan we have this type of heating system
