CASA DEI DIOSCURI

In mythology, theDioscuri are the two brothers Castor and Pollux, mythical sons of Zeus and the mortal Leda. The house of the Dioscuri is one of the most sumptuous and largest in Pompeii. It has two atriums and a green peristyle of the Rhodian type, i.e. with a raised side, which gives the whole a rather scenographic character. It has revealed some superb paintings of the fourth style (68 AD), the most significant of which are kept in the Archaeological Museum of Naples.
