Time difference Naples

Italy belongs to the same time zone as France, Switzerland and Belgium. In April, we move forward one hour and at the end of October we move back one hour. The time difference between Quebec and Italy is 6 hours.

Opening hours Naples

To see / To do Naples

As in most Mediterranean countries, Naples and Campania respect the sacrosanct hour of the siesta. After lunch, all public places seem to enter a state of lethargy, the streets empty, the rhythm of life slows down. Many monuments, museums and shops close their doors around 1pm and only reopen around 3pm, 4pm or even 5pm. However, the major national museums and some monuments have adopted a continuous schedule, they are open all day. The opening time is around 9am, closing time around 8pm. The hours also vary according to the high and low season. Most tourist sites are closed one day a week, often on Monday. Monuments in less visited places do not have well-defined opening hours.

Enjoying yourself Naples

Italians eat a little later than northern Europeans, especially southern Europeans, who follow the Mediterranean schedule and have dinner around 8-9 pm. At lunchtime, restaurants usually open at 1pm, and at dinner at 7pm or 8pm. Most restaurants have at least one closing day per week, which varies greatly but is often Monday. On Sundays, they may be open at noon and closed in the evening.

Take a break Naples

Cafés, tea rooms and gourmet shops (pastry shops and bakeries with tasting rooms) are generally open from early morning until late afternoon (Italians love the little pastry shop with an espresso around 5-6pm!). Ice cream shops open a little later, around noon, and close around midnight in summer. Bar hours vary: often open from midday in the city, they close between 11pm and 3am.

(To) please yourself Naples

While supermarkets and international brand stores remain open without interruption from 9am to 8pm, small shops take a break from 12:30-1pm to 3:30-4pm or even 5pm. They are generally open from Monday to Saturday. The big brands are also open on Sundays: you can easily have a Sunday shopping session along Via Toledo!

Get out Naples

Bars are open all week (often with a closing day on Monday) until about 11pm, and until 2 or 3am on Friday and Saturday. Nightclubs are open from Thursday to Saturday. Outside Naples, in the most touristic areas of the coast, discos and bars open until very late every day in high season

The performing arts and opera are well represented in Naples, with several theatres offering a very rich programme. Opera lovers will not want to miss a performance at the mythical San Carlo theatre, which has a fairly extensive programme throughout the year.
