Basilica erected as a result of the many miraculous cures and apparitions that occurred there.

A beautiful octagonal edifice with four cross-shaped chapels (1500), this basilica was built in response to the many miraculous healings and apparitions that occurred here in 1490. The first and most remarkable was that of Caterina degli Uberti, a lady from Crema, who was robbed and wounded to death by her own husband. Her prayer to receive the sacraments before her death was answered, as the Virgin appeared to her dressed as a peasant woman.
