TECHNICAL MUSEUM TATRA (TECHNICKÉ MUZEUM TATRA)

The museum of the Tatra car manufacturer will delight lovers of technology and beautiful cars. The factory has been located here since 1853. At that time, Tatra manufactured wagons, then trucks in 1898 and finally cars. All the models produced by the Czech pioneer are on display here, from the first Präsident of 1897 to the sedans of the communist oligarchy, including the entire range of racing cars for circuits and rallies. The gallery of "aerodynamic" cars is a pure delight, especially since these vehicles are not very present in French museums. For example, you can see the model designed by Tatra especially for Stalin: a magnificent beige convertible with a red hood and gleaming chrome. The car did not please the little father of the peoples who had it sent back to the Czech Republic. The last car, the T700, rolled off the production line in 1998. At that time, the brand was too much associated with the official cars of the political police and communist dignitaries, and the Czechs dreamed of Western cars. So it was not because of lack of quality that the brand disappeared, but because of an image deficit. Some Czech enthusiasts still have old Tatras in their backyards and joke that they have finished running them in after 300,000 km... Tatra has since retreated to the truck division.
