SMETANOVO NÁMĚSTÍ

The long Place Smetana is the lungs of the city. It's a wide, oblong avenue lined with old arcaded houses. You can see Renaissance, Baroque and even Empire mansions. The colorful ensemble is truly photogenic. Other highlights include the Gothic town hall and the beautiful Maison des Chevaliers. The latter dates back to the ^16th century and boasts a stunning, richly decorated façade. The interior is just as interesting and well-preserved, with beautiful coffered ceilings. An art gallery has recently taken up residence here.
