To the west of the small market town of Battle, The Squirrel Inn is the place to stop for a meal in the area. Built in the 18th century, it's a country house where you can dine on quality local food, which also follows the seasons, accompanied by a good choice of real ales. Opt for the very English Pork Belly, or the famous Roast if you're there on a Sunday. There's plenty of room and a garden, which is always nice for soaking up the sun. Family-run, this pub is renowned for its warm atmosphere.
