THE EAGLE

Pub €€
4.5/5

It is said that this is where Watson and Crick discovered the shape of DNA. The Eagle is known to be the oldest pub in Cambridge. Another pride of the pub is the bar ceiling, marked with the names of Royal Air Force airmen who served in the Second World War. This pub is therefore steeped in history and has something to inspire people's minds... It serves traditional English cuisine and of course burgers, which have become classics in English pubs. A good fish'n' chips too. The atmosphere is typical with the rooms standing, beer in hand.

KINGSTON ARMS

The Kingston Arms is for many the best pub in Cambridge. It is the real neighbourhood pub that we love, where locals flock to drink the sacrosanct pint of beer as soon as it opens. 13 beers are served under pressure: a consistent and high quality selection that changes regularly. Cheap and friendly, this establishment will seduce travellers looking for authenticity. Here you can enjoy traditional homemade dishes prepared with ingredients from local merchants. From the front with its wooden tables and flowerpots, you are seduced.

THE MAYPOLE

Pub

With nearly thirty beers on tap and a central location, Maypole is definitely a great place to come and sample the region's real ales. There's also a gin bar on site! There are two basement rooms and a beer garden. Italian-influenced dishes include pizzas, lasagne and risottos. It's an authentic bar run by the same Italian family for over 30 years. An address worth supporting in the face of the chains that are buying up most English pubs.

THE ANCHOR

Pub €€

One of Cambridge's most famous pubs with certainly the most beautiful view and the best location. We go there especially for its incredible terrace and view of the Cam River, and for its wide choice of beers. Be careful, around 10pm the waiters ask you - more or less sympathetically - to come inside. To be tested in the early evening so that you can fully enjoy the setting, just on the banks of the river. And on sunny days. It is said that Syd Barrett, from the Pink Floyd, was a regular at the bar. He even played it.
