The Sierra de Bèrnia follows the coast perpendicular to Callosa from En to Sarrià and to Pointe de Toix. In its upper part, it is a sharp limestone ridge that reaches 1 129 metres above sea level. And it's south of the summit that you find the ruins of the Fort of Bèrnia, built by Philip II to contain the rebellions of the moriscos populations, converted Muslims, who then populated these mountains. The PR-V 7 route is recommended as a small hiking trail for an overview of this space classified as a protected landscape. He leaves Boxes of Bèrnia, in Xaló, follows the north slope to the forat, Trou hole, a surprising natural tunnel that crosses the ridge, to return to the south slope, passing through the Fort. This excursion offers privileged panoramic views over the bay of Altea.
