PALAZZO DELL'ANNUNZIATA

The palace, built on the remains of a Roman villa(domus) dating from the ^first century BC, is considered the most important monument in Sulmona. Founded in 1320 as a hospital and rebuilt several times until the end of the ^16th century, it harmoniously blends Gothic and Renaissance styles. Today it houses the municipal museums of Sulmona. Adjacent to the palace, the remains of a church destroyed during the earthquake of 1706. It was restored in some places by artists from Pescocostanzo.
