The famous and popular carnival of Viareggio, a master in the art of caricature, takes place every year in February since 1873.

The seaside town of Viareggio, in the province of Lucca, and its famous carnival are well worth a visit! This grand parade of masks and humorous papier-mâché floats is considered one of the most important in Italy, and even in Europe. Born in 1873, this extraordinary carnival, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2023, attracts thousands of curious visitors every year. The floats, featuring huge caricatures of famous men, all present allegorical themes, usually focusing on Italian or international political issues.

Si vous avez la chance d'être en Toscane, pas loin de Pise pendant la période du carnaval en février( à vérifier d'une année sur l'autre), ne manquez pas ce super carnaval, le défilé se passait sur la route en bord de plage, de magnifiques chars (une quinzaine, dont un avec effigie de Trump))et des groupes de danse et musiciens, même le public avec ou sans enfants se déguise, un magnifique après-midi(ça commençait à 15h) avec le soleil de la partie, le top pour passer un bon moment au milieu de la foule Italienne
