THE MINES OF COGNE

A visit to the old Cogne mines, one of the highest in Europe at an altitude of 2,000 m, is a unique experience. The half-day tour winds through the tunnels once used by miners to reach the magnetite deposits. A vintage train takes you through the network of galleries, measuring over 100 km in total. To reach the site, walk up the well-signposted path from the mining village of Cogne, where the Grand Paradis National Park visitor center is located.
