A spectacular Roman cryptoportico in the city of Aosta.

The Forum ofAugusta Praetoria is now buried beneath the modern city. While it's no longer possible to get an overview, visitors can take a stroll through the spectacular cryptoportico, the passageway under the arcades that separated the Roman city's main square from the sacred area. This long, almost intact horseshoe-shaped corridor resembles a gallery supported by powerful travertine pillars. This structure also bridged the structural gap that had opened up around the Forum, as the land sloped slightly.
