This gigantic park, in the heart of the city and bordering the Po River, is a paradise for the people of Turin with its castle, its medieval village...

This park, located on the left bank of the River Po, is part of Turin's history and a must for any stay in the capital of Piedmont. Created with the collaboration of French architect Barillet-Deschamps, its 450,000 m² of greenery has always been a haven for lovers (its name derives from St. Valentine's Day) and for all Turin residents who work or live in the area at lunchtime. You too can bring your own snacks, or stop off at the many small kiosks in the park serving snacks, drinks and coffees. You'll also come across many sports enthusiasts, from runners to cyclists. And it's great fun to watch the courageous rowers rowing on the Po while nibbling on a slice of pizza or a sandwich, or, even closer, the little grey squirrels trying to find the location of the nuts they've hidden here and there. Valentino is home to some of the city's most characteristic monuments: the Castello del Valentino, of course, a late 20th-century medieval-style village, a botanical garden (open from early April to early November) and an exhibition palace, Torino Esposizioni, with a theater, ice-skating rink and fencing club. The Fountain of the Months, a monumental construction dating from 1898, is ideal for taking a short break and immortalizing yourself in a photo next to the statue representing the month of your birth...
