POSTE-FRONTIÈRE DE DEVE BAIR-GJUEŠEVO

This is the main crossing point between Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria. It is located at the Deve Bair/Деве Баир pass (1,167 m above sea level) and is next to the Bulgarian village of Gjueševo/Гюешево (180 inhabitants, at 938 m above sea level). Despite large investments by the European Union, customs officials here really make little effort. 30 minutes of waiting for four cars: it happens often. This is a sign that relations between Skopje and Sofia are still not at their best.
