OSSUAIRE DE KAVADARCI

Dating from 1976, this Brutalist-style monument (Спомен Костурницата во Кавадарци) sits 305 m above sea level atop Gradki Park, one of the largest public parks in the country. Designed by architect Petar Muličkoski (1929-2022), it houses the remains of more than 300 local partisans who died during World War II. It is built around a 13-meter-high concrete tower whose inverted pyramid shape is meant to evoke traditional corbelled houses. The site suffers from a lack of maintenance and degradation.
