PORTO DI TRIESTE

Second only to Genoa in Italy, the port of Trieste is a major hub for intercontinental trade and shipping. Its history dates back to the ^18th century, when tea and coffee were shipped here. Enlarged several times, it is now divided between Porto Vecchio and three industrial terminals. From the passenger terminal, ferries run regularly to Grado, Muggia and the Friuli coast, as well as to Croatia and Turkey. A large aquarium takes center stage.
