HERITAGE CENTRE

The centre, which also serves as a tourist office for the region (guided tours of the town from Monday to Friday), shows a film about the history of Lismore. It all began when a man of the cloth, jealous of his brothers, was forced to flee his home town to settle in Lismore, accompanied by 600 disciples. Under the impetus of this man, the village became an important university centre. In the 10th century, it was one of the most important centres of intellectuals in Europe.
