The square at the entrance to the town features a large bronze statue of King Behanzin in royal regalia
In the middle of this square at the entrance to the city, on the road to Bohicon, stands a large bronze statue of King Behanzin. It celebrates the precise spot where the king, after having resisted the French troops for a long time, finally surrendered to General Dodds, after a last battle in 1894. He is depicted in royal garb with his conical hat, loincloth, and the royal scepter of Dahomey (the recade) in his right hand.

Place "publique" devenue payante (500F par personne), je ne vous conseille pas de vous y aventurer si vous ne souhaitez que contempler la statue.

It is not a museum but it has in central position a statue of the King behanzin who opposed the French invasion until he was exiled. The words partially cancelled on the basement say more or less that"I cannot accept any treaties that do not keep my country independent". Brave but unrealistic.
To see for history. The statue of king Béhanzin is majestic and that resistance to the invader does not have a homeland. Push your visit to the town of Bohicon (some Miles), whose very lively African market offers all the local produce, food and of the country: Yams, manioc, pineapple " bread sucre" , bananas plantins which chips in front of you, green oranges deliciously sweet, avocados " beurrés" enormous, smoked fish, " sauces crevettes" , herbs with sauces and medicamentous, etc. to see them very rich traditional fabric slacks, jewels of pearls, calabashes, etc. You can eat at the scrubland market, very clean and little expensive.
