Remarkable canyon, one of the city's greatest sights, and Japanese tunnels located in a small park in Bukittinggi.
Located to the west of the city, the canyon (syanok) is one of its greatest sights. A park, the Taman Panorama, overlooks the entire site. The entrance to the Japanese tunnels is located in the park, but offers nothing special to see. They were dug by the Japanese to protect themselves from Allied air raids. At dusk, the massive flight of giant bats from the cellars into the park to feed is impressive.
