KOCK BENTENG (KOCK BENTENG)

Erected on the hill opposite the zoo, the fort was built in 1825 during the Padris War. Not much remains to be seen, apart from the foundations on the lawns. From here, however, the panorama is very pretty. You can also visit a traditional house (Rumah Gadang) which serves as a museum of Minangkabau culture. There's also a zoo with some orangutans and bears that are hard to miss. A pleasant walk in the open air.
