SAMOSIR COTTAGES

A friendly and highly recommendable place run by Esron Samosir, who divides her life between her Indonesian establishment and her family life in Australia. Its architecture is unique, with batak roofs. Knowing what an "orang putih" (foreigner) is likely to expect from a hotel, it plays good music (Batak music concerts on Wednesdays and Saturdays), shows good films and has an excellent restaurant. The staff are equally charming. The place is huge, right on the lake, with two swimming pools. Inflatable boats for hire.
