Located south of the Pangrano and Gedé volcanoes, Sukabumi, a trading town of 140,000 inhabitants, offers little of interest apart from its old Dutch colonial houses. It is famous for its earthquakes. One of the deadliest, in 1972, killed 2,500 people. The most recent, on January 4, 2024, fortunately caused no casualties, although it did reach 5.9 on the Richter scale.A small road climbs up to Selabintana( very regularbemos ), where it stops in the 36-hectare park of the hotel of the same name. From Selabintana, you can walk to the Sawer waterfall and climb Gunung Gede.
